OmeGold: clean, balanced omega-3s

Publié le 25 mai 2025

OmeGold is derived solely from the flesh of small, short-lived fish to avoid the accumulation of PCBs, PCBs more commonly known as « pyralenes » and organochlorine pesticides… This means that small fish are often at the beginning of the food chain and are more likely to be eaten by larger fish, and so on up to huge fish such as tuna. We only recover their flesh because the liver is ultimately just a filter for waste, and not necessarily the best organ. Finally, the shorter the lifespan of a fish, the lower the risk of storing heavy metals. But these are not the only advantages. These ‘sardine’ type fish are caught in waters reputed to be the cleanest on the planet, but also using sustainable fishing practices, i.e. in Antarctic waters off the coast of Chile. They are then frozen directly on the boat and processed in Norway to extract the oil. The oil is then cleaned by vacuum distillation (there is no oxygen and therefore no oxidation). This process separates out substances that would decompose at higher temperatures. Finally, the oil is immediately mixed with powerful antioxidants to protect it. This completely eliminates all environmental toxins.
Les Omegold sont cOmegold products are « Friend of the Sea » certified. This is a certification programme overseen by the World Sustainability Organization on an international scale. This certification is now the main benchmark for products and services designed to benefit the health of the oceans by promoting sustainable fishing practices).

Unfortunately, the majority of omega-3s processed into food supplements are manufactured without such stringent specifications. We often talk about cod liver oil = the liver is a big fish… The EPA/DHA ratio is often unbalanced.

These OmeGold capsules are among the best omega-3 capsules on the market because they are made from triglycerides, whereas 90% of the capsules available on the market are ethyl esters, which are poorly digestible, poorly assimilated by the body and cause unpleasant rancid fishy smells. These differences in quality are reflected in the knock-down prices of certain products.

The dosage of EPA and DHA is very important. Lifeplus has produced a product with an optimum EPA/DHA ratio.

EPA is thought to have beneficial effects on depression and mood disorders. It also has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties. Like DHA, it is thought to help protect the cardiovascular system (arteries and heart).

DHA is thought to improve the proper functioning of the brain and nervous system: in particular, it increases resistance to nervous stress, combats eye ageing and acts on fatigue, particularly during pregnancy.

Although the EPA/DHA proportions are not identical to the animal version, there is also a Vegan version made from the oil of the microalgae Schizochytrium sp.
